Addresses API 2.0 Released
New search engine, GeoJSON response format & more attributes returned.
Announcing Addresses API 2.0 Release
Our Addresses API helps you validate, geocode and enrich your customer address data to improve business efficiency and deliver insights. You can now access the Addresses API 2.0 for production environments. It was previously only available through our beta endpoint.
What’s new to the API?
The API has three key new features:

- New search engine – We’ve built a new search engine using machine learning and the scalable systems available in AWS. Address search and matching is enhanced, the API scales to handle much larger peak loads, and response times are reduced. We’ve got fuzzy matching on misspellings and typos, and better handling of streets and suburbs (localities) with two or more words.
- GeoJSON response body – GeoJSON is the API’s default response format, which improves accessibility and readability. It also enables many open libraries to parse and visualise the output of the API.
- Commonly used attributes are returned by default – We now return address details and geometry by default in every result. You no longer need to make a second call to get these attributes. We also allow the use of ‘additionalProperties’ to add other information into the response. This reduces your transaction cost.
