Maps API (Vector Tiles) Beta
It’s ready to explore.
Announcing the Maps API (Vector Tiles) Beta
It’s here. Get a basemap without having to process and visualise entire datasets.
The Maps API (Vector Tiles) Beta is now available for use. It’s built using authoritative data and delivers a basemap that you can overlay additional data on. When you overlay Geoscape data, it will align with the map.
The basemap covers the whole of Australia. You can tailor the way it looks or use our pre-built theme. See it for yourself with the Maps API Live Demo.
What’s included?
The Geoscape Maps API is a vector tile service that uses industry standard Mapbox 1.X libraries. You can define your own stylesheet or use the default stylesheet we’ve built. The map includes:
- Land parcels (cadastre)
- Buildings
- Roads
- Greenspace
- Bodies of water and waterways, and
- Administrative boundaries, including states and suburbs.
For more information, see our Beta API Documentation.
Get Started
If you have a Geoscape beta API key, you can start using the API immediately. The Getting Started Guide includes code samples. It shows you how to connect the Maps API to a client application so you can visualise and interact with it.
If you don’t have a beta key, create an account at the Developer Portal and opt-in to the Beta Program. Or contact Darryl in our Support Team.
