  • Abstract: The Transport and Topography Dataset (T&T) is a suite of digital spatial dataset comprised of road, rail, rail stations, air infrastructure, parks, and waterbody data themes covering Australia. 
  • Purpose: To create a single national point of access to standardised Australian transport and topographic information. 
  • Time: The T&T dataset is comprised of themes that were originally created and updated over different time periods prior to 2006. From 2006 the T&T dataset has included amendments every quarter with updates published in February, May, August, and November each year.

  • Lineage: The T&T dataset is comprised of a number of related data themes using data sourced from all Australian jurisdictions. Data is updated according to theme-based production processes which apply specific business rules designed to harmonise and quality assure supplied content. The Transport Theme comprises Roads, Airports, Railway Lines and Railway Stations. Roads data is updated quarterly with the data model is based on development work delivered by the ICSM Roads Working Group. Railway Lines, Railway Stations and Airports are updated on an-adhoc basis, based on changes identified in supplier data. The Greenspace theme is updated quarterly and the Hydrology theme in this structure is no longer updated. Quality assurance processes aimed at checking feature identify management and the relationship between features are executed before an update is complete. Once the update is finalised, data extracts are created from the centralised database across the range of available data formats and reference datums.

State, territory, and Commonwealth governments publish information online associated with their respective datasets and associated management programs.
